INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP
The International Coastal Cleanup began more than 30 years ago, when communities rallied together with the common goal of collecting and documenting the trash littering their coastline. Taking place every year on the 3rd Saturday in September, coordinators and volunteers around the world gather for the International Coastal Cleanup. Volunteers from states and territories throughout the US and more than 100 countries gather each year to participate at a cleanup event near them.
Thanks to people around the world, the International Coastal Cleanup has become a beacon of hope, leasing and inspiring action in support of our ocean. Over the years, this movement has created a family that spans oceans and country borders, uniting more than 12 million volunteers to collect nearly 229 million pounds of trash since it began in 1985.
